Horizon Class is a portion of your child's day each day. The instruction CSE students receive in our Horizon classes involves advanced content in a resource classroom. They come to my classroom and work in smaller groups with their peers to learn, explore, and create evidence of knowledge gained and application of such knowledge. Through literature experiences, creative writing, math and reading workshops, along with IPad use, problem solving opportunities, and research, I will prepare lessons and activities that interest them.
*Each year, it is my goal to guide every student to reach his or her fullest potential in both academic and social areas of life. Through Horizon Class experiences, I want the students to understand their roles in the community around them.
What you can expect from me:
- The education and wellbeing of your child is my highest priority
- Lessons will be created to challenge, interest, and broaden students' knowledge/understanding/skills
- Instruction will be tailored to meet the various learning needs of each child
- My classroom will provide a supportive, loving, and encouraging atmosphere of learning
- There will be very high expectations of each child both academically and behaviorally
Horizon Students will be expected to:
- Participate in Horizon class each day with a positive attitude
- Complete HORIZON classroom activities and assignments with their best effort each day
- Give their best in ALL CSE activities and assignments
- Model responsible behavior and a respectful attitude both during HORIZON class and the rest of the school day at CSE
Sincerely,
Mrs. O'Brien
