MUSIC AT CSE

Music is such an important part of our total curriculum here at CSE. Research shows that children who are involved in music programs actually do better in school and have a higher graduation rate. Many graduates have stated that the music program in their high school was the very thing that kept them plugged into school. CSE encourages your child in that same direction. Our goal is for your child to have positive music experiences that will guide her/him to participate in further music activities in middle school and high school.

In kindergarten we begin to explore beat, rhythm, vocal range, movement, and various instrumental sounds. The singing, dancing, and musical games we play lead into each consecutive grade. By 4th grade, our students are ready to begin a study of the recorder. We have recorder lessons all year long.

CSE students receive many performance opportunities:

  • Kindergarten students perform Christmas songs for their classroom party and a musical for their May graduation.
  • 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to participate in our Cloud Springs Chorus.
  • In December, the Chorus gives outstanding musical performances at Lane Funeral Home and our various Partners’ businesses, for our student body and the community, and performs throughout the holidays on the local television station.
  • The spring Fine Arts production is a collaborative effort of music, drama, and dance.
    • We have performed such musicals as The Wizard of Oz, Pinocchio, Jungle Book, Aladdin, and Pirates.
  • Our 5th graders perform in their CHAMPS graduation and for their May graduation.
  • Other grades are involved in different programs throughout the year.
  • Our students gain poise and polish as they perform in our community. You can be very proud of our students’ accomplishments in the arts
